# Secret keys are only shown once on the API keys page

To reduce the chance of a Secret key leaking, the [**API keys**](https://dashboard.clerk.com/~/api-keys) page in the Clerk Dashboard now shows its full value only when you add it. After that, it shows only part of each key, so you can match it to the one in your environment.

Code snippets that need a Secret key now let you add a new key without leaving the page.

Existing Secret keys keep working, and you don't need to rotate them. If you've lost a key you need, add a new one, then delete the old one once your code no longer uses it.
