# Monitoring and decision logs

Clerk Protect records every block and challenge, so you can see what it's doing for your application: which sign-up or sign-in was affected, what action was taken, and a reference for the decision.

## Protect events in Application Logs

When Protect blocks or challenges a sign-up or a sign-in, the decision appears in [Application Logs](https://clerk.com/docs/guides/dashboard/logs/application-logs.md) in the Clerk Dashboard, alongside your other application events. See the [Protect events](https://clerk.com/docs/guides/dashboard/logs/application-logs.md#protect-events) for the full list. How long decisions are retained depends on your plan — see [Protect plans](https://clerk.com/docs/guides/protect/plans.md).

## Decision details

Each event shows the action Protect took, challenge or block, the sign-up or sign-in it applied to, and a reference you can quote to Clerk support if you need help with a decision.
