Legal compliance
Clerk provides a legal compliance setting that allows you to require users to agree to your terms of service or privacy policy before they can sign up to your application. After enabling the setting, there will be a checkbox to accept the terms in your <SignUp /> component or Account Portal sign-up page.
To configure the setting:
- In the Clerk Dashboard, navigate to the Legal page.
- Enable or disable Require express consent to legal documents.
SSO flows
Legal acceptance is also required when a user signs up through an OAuth connection or Enterprise SSO connection. With Clerk's prebuilt components or Account Portal, Clerk prompts the user to accept your legal documents when they return from the identity provider (), before sign-up completes.
In a custom SSO flow, you must handle legal acceptance in your own UI. When the user returns with legal acceptance among the missing requirements, collect their consent and update the sign-up attempt before completing sign-up.
